Hassan el Soghaiar - "Dob el Leil"
Popular lead singer Hassan el Soghaiar from Embarkab in Upper Egypt, who is of Nubian origin,
performs with the group Sandaleya. Singers from Nubia, have gained popularity worldwide in
the past years. Their repertoire is based on traditional Nubian songs, the lyrics and music
developed by Zidan Abdo.
Hassan lives part of the year in Alexandria,
where he is sought after, not only by the large Nubian community,
but by Egyptians from all parts of the country and all walks of life
- especially for wedding parties. Alexandria is considered a town of
lovers and a wedding by the sea side has romantic appeal to millions of
Egyptians. Hassan's deep velvet voice, as well as his repertoire and modern
re-adaptation of popular Nubian songs, spark the desire to get up and dance.
